WARRIOR MEN’S
SOCCER FALLS IN CONFERENCE OPENER
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College men’s soccer team hosted King’s
College, Sunday afternoon, in their first conference match of the
season. The Warriors tallied the game’s first goal but could not
hold the lead as the Monarchs scored two goals in the final 15
minutes to claim the 2-1 victory. Lycoming falls to 3-3-2 on the
season. King’s improves to 4-4.
After the two
teams played a scoreless first half, Jeff Kocher
(Fr./Churchville, MD; C. Milton Wright) got the Warriors on
the board in the 66th minute scoring off a rebound of a
shot by Brad Martin (So./Annapolis, MD; Broadneck). The
goal was Kocher’s fourth of the season.
The Monarchs
answered 10 minutes later on a header by Brian Noler that tied the
game at 1-1. Brett Shipe then scored the game-winning goal with
just 4:35 remaining in the game. Joe Saukulyak assisted on both
goals.
Jason Fesler
(So./Carlisle, PA; Cumberland Valley)
made seven saves in goal for Lycoming.
The Warriors will
be on the road for their next match, traveling to Valley Forge
College on Thursday, September 26.
