WARRIOR MEN’S SOCCER DEFEATS
MARYWOOD
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team hosted
Marywood University, Wednesday afternoon, in a non-conference
match. Playing in a steady rain and on a muddy field, the
Warriors controlled the play from start to finish en route to a
3-1 victory. Lycoming improves to 5-7-2 overall with the win.
The Pacers
got on the board first scoring just 11 minutes into the contest.
Rob Cherrington placed the ball in the upper left corner of the
net from 25 yards out off an assist by Kevin Oviedo for the
initial score.
The Warriors
evened the score just prior to halftime when Ian Kauffman
(Jr./Lewisberry, PA;
Red Land)
headed home a corner kick from Brad Martin (So./Annapolis,
MD; Broadneck). Martin then tallied the eventual
game-winning goal just seven minutes into the second half.
Jeff Kocher (Fr./Churchville, MD; C. Milton Wright) assisted
on the score. Lycoming added an insurance goal with just five
seconds remaining in the match to set the final score at 3-1.
Kocher recorded the goal and Martin assisted on it.
Jason Fesler
(So./Carlisle, PA; Cumberland Valley)
made five saves in goal for the Warriors. Todd Sharbaugh was in
goal for Marywood. He made 12 saves.
“Today was a
good win. I’m proud of how our guys dealt with the adversity of
the weather and the field conditions, and really took it to
them,” said Lycoming head coach Scott Kennell. “Now we’ll look
to build off this game and carry some momentum back into
conference play.”
Lycoming
will play again on Saturday when they travel to Scranton.
Gametime is at 7 p.m.
