WARRIOR MEN’S LACROSSE FALLS
AT VILLA JULIE

STEVENSON, MD – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team took to the road, Saturday afternoon, traveling to Villa Julie College for a non-conference game. The Warriors got outplayed by the host Mustangs, losing 9-18. The loss drops Lycoming’s record to 5-2 overall. Villa Julie improves to 5-2 as well.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and held the two-goal advantage into the half, after playing an even second quarter with the Warriors. Things began going really bad for Lycoming in the third, as Villa Julie recorded five goals to the Warriors’ two. The Mustangs’ offense kept rolling in the fourth, as they added seven goals to make the final 18-9.

Sang Duong (Fr./Havertown; Haverford Township), Ryan Bergstrom (So./Hagerstown, MD; Smithsburg) and Buddy Temple (Jr./Webster, NY; Webster Senior) each scored twice for Lycoming. Todd Brysiak (Sr./Aston; Ridley Senior), Mike Bonnes (Sr./Ridley Park; Ridley Senior) and Dan Wilcox (Fr./Corning, NY; Corning-Painted Post East) accounted for the Warriors’ other three goals. Bonnes’ goal gave him 136 for his career, making him Lycoming’s all-time leader in career goals. The previous record of 135 was held by Warrior assistant coach Shawn Rosa.

Bob Rinehimer had a huge day for Villa Julie with five goals and seven assists. Stu King added four goals and Travis Williams chipped in three for the Mustangs.

Jared Jankowski (Sr./Boonton, NJ; Boonton) went the distance in goal for Lycoming, making 20 saves. Pat Gill made 14 saves in net for Villa Julie.

“We were dominated in every aspect of the game today, from groundballs to shots. They were ready to play and we weren’t,” said Lycoming head coach Gene Peluso. “Hats off to Villa Julie for a great game. Their offense was excellent – they moved the ball extremely well. They came in with a game plan and did everything they needed to do.

“We have a lot of work to do with a tough stretch of conference games coming up. We have many things to work on to get ready to play again.”

The Warriors will play their next game at home on Wednesday, April 4, when they host Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Messiah College. Game time is at 4 p.m.
