MIDDLE ATLANTIC
CONFERENCE PLAYOFF PAIRINGS SET
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
– With the regular season nearly finished, the field for the
2001 Middle Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse playoffs is set.
Lycoming College, with a conference mark of 7-1, will enjoy
home-field advantage throughout the tournament. The other teams
qualifying for the playoffs are Messiah College, Widener
University and FDU-Madison.
The Warriors’
first round opponent will be the Devils of FDU-Madison. The game
will be played at Lycoming on Wednesday, May 2; at 4 p.m. Lycoming
defeated FDU, 15-6, at David Person Field during the regular
season. The Devils are 9-3 overall with one regular season game
remaining, and 5-3 versus conference opponents. The Warriors
completed the most successful regular season in the program’s
history with an overall mark of 11-3 and a conference record of
7-1.
Messiah will host
Widener in the other playoff game; also scheduled for Wednesday,
May 2 at 4 p.m. Messiah defeated Widener, 9-6, during the season.
The winners of
Wednesday’s games will meet on Saturday, May 5, for the MAC
Championship at the higher seed’s venue. The winner of the MAC
tournament receives an automatic bid to the 14-team NCAA Division
III Men’s Lacrosse Championships beginning May 9.
