BARNES NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College senior Mark Barnes (Elmira, NY; Corning-Painted Post East) has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference player of the week for men’s lacrosse.

Barnes, a two-time All-American, dominated the midfield for the Warriors in two games last week, reaching a pair of career milestones in the process. On Wednesday, versus Susquehanna University he picked up 15 groundballs, won 9-of-13 face-offs and assisted on a goal. Against Drew University on Saturday, Barnes picked up 14 groundballs, won 17-of-29 face-offs, scored a goal and tallied an assist. In that game, he also recorded his 700^th career face-off win and 600^th career groundball. For the week, Barnes totaled 29 groundballs, won 62% (26-of-42) of his face-offs, scored a goal and posted two assists.

Lycoming’s men’s lacrosse team won the MAC regular season championship with a conference record of 7-1 and an overall record of 11-3. They have also won five consecutive games. The Warriors will host a first-round conference playoff game on Wednesday, May 2, at 4 p.m. versus the fourth-place regular season finisher.
