BONNES NAMED
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
– Lycoming College senior attack Michael Bonnes (Ridley Park;
Ridley Senior) has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference
Player of the Week for men’s lacrosse.
Bonnes led the
Warriors’ offense through a perfect 3-0 week, recording a total
of 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists. In last Monday’s
23-3 win over King’s College, he tallied four goals and four
assists. On Wednesday at Keuka College, he scored six goals and
assisted on two others leading Lycoming to a 14-9 victory. Bonnes
wrapped up the week with a two-goal, one-assist effort in the
Warriors’ 15-6 win over FDU-Madison on Saturday.
Bonnes leads the
team with 44 goals on the season and is Lycoming’s all-time
leader in career goals with 156. Last week, Bonnes had a unique
opportunity when his brothers, Ryan and Shaun, started on the
attack with him versus King’s. The trio of brothers accounted
for 12 goals and seven assists in the game, with all four of
Michael’s assists going to one of his brothers.
As a team the
Warriors are 9-3 overall and 5-1 within the MAC with two regular
season games to play. Lycoming is tied for first place in the
conference with Drew University (5-1), Messiah College (4-1) and
Widener University (3-1). A win in either of the Warriors’
remaining games would secure a birth in the conference playoffs
beginning May 2.
