WARRIOR MEN’S LACROSSE TOPS KEUKA

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team took a break from conference action, Wednesday afternoon, to travel to Keuka College. The Warriors defeated Keuka, 14-9. The win improves Lycoming’s season mark to 8-3.

The Warriors grabbed the early lead, outscoring Keuka 4-3 in the first quarter and 3-1 in the second. They then extended their lead in the second half, scoring another seven runs, while holding Keuka to five goals.

Jared Jankowski (Sr./Boonton, NJ; Boonton) played a strong game in goal for Lycoming, making 21 saves. Michael Bonnes (Sr./Ridley Park; Ridley Senior) led the team offensively with six goals and two assists. Chris Rausch (Sr./Wilmington, DE; Salesianum) added three goals to the effort. Freshman Sang Duong (Havertown; Haverford Township) tallied four assists and scored a goal.

“There were moments, today, when we played very good lacrosse. We just need to sustain those moments for as long as possible,” said Lycoming head coach Gene Peluso. “Michael Mack (Fr./Basking Ridge, NJ; Ridge) did a great job defensively, playing nearly the whole game and really clearing the ball well. Jared had a solid game in goal and Mark Barnes (Sr./Elmira, NY; Corning-Painted Post East) played well in the middle of the field.

“Now we get prepared for FDU on Saturday. It will be a big game for us, as all conference games are at this point in the season.”

The Warriors host FDU-Madison on Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m.
