Warriors'
Comeback Falls Short at Susquehanna
First Half Deficit Too Much to Overcome
Box Score
SELINSGROVE,
Pa. --- Lycoming men’s lacrosse pushed the pedal to the floor in
the fourth period against Susquehanna University on Wednesday
afternoon, but the Warriors’ bid for a come-from-behind victory
fell just short in an 11-10 loss to the Crusaders.
Lycoming falls to 2-4 overall, 2-1 in the MAC while
Susquehanna moves to 5-2, 3-0.
Lycoming
fell down 4-1 after the first period and 8-4 by halftime as the
Crusaders dominated play throughout the first 30 minutes.
Both squads put a three-spot on the board in the third
period, affording Susquehanna a four-goal cushion at 11-7 going
into the fourth frame.
It was all Warriors in the final stanza as sophomore Justin
Dixon (Baltimore, Md./North County) got things started with a
goal just 37 seconds into the period.
Freshman Ryan Godec (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley)
brought the Warriors to within two at the 11:23 mark, and
sophomore Jim Cusick (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) cut the
deficit to just one with his fifth tally of the game with 5:52 to
play. Susquehanna
bore down over the final minutes, allowing only two more Warrior
shots to keep the blue and gold from completing the comeback.
Cusick’s five goals and an assist paced the Warriors’
attack. Sophomore Matt
Lando (Corning, N.Y./Corning Painted Post) followed up with a
pair of scores and one helper while Dixon, Godec, and senior Ian
Martin (Wilmington, Del.) added a goal apiece.
Lycoming looks to get back to its winning ways on Tuesday,
April 4, as the Warriors welcome the University of Scranton to
Williamsport. Game
time is set for 4:00 p.m.
