Warriors Help
Bring Lacrosse to Williamsport
Student-Athletes Run Clinic at Local
Middle School
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. --- The Lycoming College Men's lacrosse team recently helped
out in the community by running a clinic for the Curtain Middle
School. The gym classes at the school are just beginning to add
lacrosse as part of their curriculum and had asked head coach
Brian Anken if the team would be willing to come up and do a
program for the kids so that they would have a better
understanding of the game, coming from experienced players.
The players
set up several demonstrations, including a show of the gear worn
by the players. Also among these demonstrations were shooting
drills, passing games, a dodging section and how to get ground
balls. More than half the team came to help out over the two day
period, and everyone enjoyed the experience. Senior Captain Tom Nairn
said that "It was an awesome experience, we got to get out
and help the community, letting them know that both the school
and the team care about Williamsport and the growing lacrosse
trend."
The men's
lacrosse team begins their season in 2007, with a home game on
February 24th against Ithaca at 1:00 PM on the turf field at the
Shangraw Athletic Complex. |
