Men's Lacrosse

Lycoming Laxers Lose to Susquehanna
Three Warriors Score Two Goals Apiece

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s lacrosse team (1-5, 1-1) fell to MAC rival Susquehanna (1-3, 1-1) on Tuesday by a score of 9-7. The Warriors fought a tough battle, but couldn’t overcome the Crusaders.

Down 4-1 at halftime, Lycoming opened the third quarter with consecutive goals. The first came just 38 seconds in, as junior midfielder Jim Cusick (Aston, PA) took a pass from senior Matt Lando (Corning, NY) and found the net. Then, at 7:07, junior attack Dan Cannon (Orangeville, ONT) cut Susquehanna’s lead to one on a pass from junior Justin Dixon (Baltimore, MD). Cusick and Cannon would finish the day with two goals each, while Lando dished a pair of assists.

Crusader Greg Norris followed with the second of his game-high three goals to increase Susquehanna’s lead to 5-3, but Lycoming freshman Nate Walter (Harrisburg, PA) came up with back-to-back goals to tie the game at 2:09 in the third. Unfortunately, the Crusaders went up again just 15 seconds later with a goal.

Cusick opened the fourth quarter scoring and evened the count at six apiece, but again Susquehanna answered less than a minute later. Finally, Lycoming captain Tom Nairn (Fairport, NY) tied the game at seven with 5:20 to go, but Greg Burns put the Crusaders up for good just 18 seconds later.

Susquehanna effectively held the Warriors at bay for the final five minutes. Lycoming goalie Kyle Gilfoy (Media, PA) came out of the net to help get the ball back and the Crusaders took advantage of the open net with :08 remaining.

Lycoming travels to Moravian next, playing on Saturday, March 31 at 2:00 p.m.
