Warriors Fall to First-Place Messiah
Cusick Scores Five Goals for Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s lacrosse team (4-9, 4-5) fell to MAC opponent Messiah on Wednesday night by a score of 19-12. Messiah is undefeated and ranked first in the conference. The Warriors still have a chance to make the playoffs with a win in their final game and an FDU-Florham loss on Saturday.

Lycoming’s Jim Cusick (Aston, PA) scored five goals and added an assist against the Falcons. Two of his scores came in the fourth quarter when the Warriors outscored Messiah 4-1. Sophomore Shea Conway (Glenwood, MD) also scored two times in the fourth.

To begin the game, Messiah sprinted to a 5-0 lead before Justin Dixon (Baltimore, MD) and Dan Cannon (Orangeville, ONT) scored for Lycoming. Messiah added two more goals to close the first period.

Cannon, who had three goals and two assists on the day, opened the second quarter with a score, but the Falcons again reeled off five straight scores in the period’s first six minutes. Warrior co-captain Tom Nairn (Fairport, NY) found the net and Cusick scored twice on assists from Cannon and Nairn, but Messiah led 14-6 at the half.

Messiah scored three goals to open the third quarter and one to end it. In between, Cusick and Cannon scored back-to-back goals in the period’s final 90 seconds.

Sophomore Kyle Gilfoy (Media, PA) and senior Alex Tankeloff (Malvern, PA) each played a half in goal. Both had five saves apiece.

The Warriors take on Drew University on Saturday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m. FDU-Florham faces Susquehanna at 4:00 p.m.
