Falls to #11 Ithaca
Freshman Schaeffer
Scores Three Goals
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa.—The Lycoming men’s lacrosse team fell to nationally-ranked
Ithaca on Saturday by a score of 21-12. Ithaca is ranked #11 in
the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll (www.usila.org).
Despite
three goals by freshman Brad Schaeffer (Smithsburg, MD),
the Warriors couldn’t keep pace with the Bombers’ Mike
Cintineo and Logan Bobzien who recorded four goals
each.
Lycoming
juniors Dan Cannon (Orangeville, ONT) and Jim Cusick
(Aston, PA) each scored a pair of goals. Cannon added two
assists, while Cusick had one. Senior Matt Lando (Corning,
NY) led all Warriors with three assists, but he was unable
to net any of his six shots.
Lycoming
goalkeeper Kyle Gilfoy (Media, PA) registered 22 saves on
the day, while scooping up two ground balls. Senior captain
Kyle Shearer (York, PA) and sophomore
Dan
Conkright (Spring City, PA) each had a team-high five ground
balls for the Warriors.
Lycoming
drew first blood, scoring just 1:48 into the game. However, at
halftime Ithaca led 11-4. The Warriors perked up late in the
game, scoring six goals in the final period.
Lycoming
hosts Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, March 3 at Shangraw
Athletic Complex. The contest begins at 1:30 p.m. |
