Men's Lacrosse

Warriors Gain Victory Over FDU-Florham
Cannon Leads the Way

FLORHAM, NJ—Lycoming’s men’s lacrosse team (4-8, 4-4) scored a validating victory over a tough FDU-Florham team (5-7, 4-4) on Saturday. The Warriors are now in the MAC playoff picture, as they equal FDU's conference record and hold the head-to-head advantage.

First-year head coach Brian Anken's team is finally realizing the rewards for all of its hard work and dedication. With an 8-6 victory in New Jersey, Lycoming looks to enter the postseason on a roll. But first it must win its two remaining games.

Junior Dan Cannon (Orangeville, ONT) led the charge versus FDU-Florham, scoring three goals and adding a pair of assists. Freshman Nate Walter (Harrisburg, PA) notched two goals, including the Warriors’ first score when they were down 2-0 in the first period. Lycoming sophomore Dave Labagh (Elizabethtown, PA) evened the tally 2-2 with another opening period goal.

FDU-Florham went up 4-2 at halftime, but Lycoming exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Devils 4-2 on two Cannon goals and one each by senior Tom Nairn (Fairport, NY) and junior Jim Cusick (Aston, PA).

Cannon and Walter came up with the only two goals of the fourth period, as the Warrior defense stood strong and secured the victory. Senior midfielder Matt Lando (Corning, NY) shared the team lead of two assists with Cannon.

The Warriors suit up again at first-place Messiah on Wednesday, April 25. This could be the most important game of the season. If Lycoming upsets Messiah, the playoffs are just one win away, as Lycoming hosts Drew on April 28.
