MEN’S LACROSSE DEFEATS ELIZABETHTOWN

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team
hosted Elizabethtown College, Monday afternoon, for a Middle
Atlantic Conference showdown. The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0
lead in the contest and hung on for a 13-11 victory. Lycoming
improves to 4-2 overall and 3-0 within the MAC. The Blue Jays
fall to 3-6 and 2-2.
The Warriors
jumped all over Elizabethtown early, scoring the only four goals
of the opening period and the first three goals of the second
period to open up a 7-0 advantage. The Blue Jays, however, came
back to score four goals of their own in the second quarter,
closing to within 8-4 at halftime.
Elizabethtown continued to chip away at the deficit, outscoring
Lycoming 3-2 in the third period to close within 10-7. The Blue
Jays tallied the first goal of the fourth quarter to cut the
margin to two, but the Warriors kept their composure and
answered with two goals to reclaim a 12-8 lead they would not
relinquish.
Thomas Nairn
(So./Fairport, N.Y.; Fairport)
and Dave Kirschner (Sr./Newton Square, Pa.; Marple Newton)
led Lycoming with four goals and one assist, each. James
Cusick (Fr./Aston, Pa.; Sun Valley) added three goals and
one assist. Chris Jordan (Sr./Doylestown, Pa.; Germantown
Academy) and Chris McQuade (Sr./Lower Gwynedd, Pa.;
Wissahickon) each tallied a goal and an assist, while
Tyler Fitzgibbons (Sr./Doylestown, Pa.; Archbishop Wood)
recorded three assists in the contest.

(So./Radnor, Pa.; Conestoga)
was in goal for the Warriors, making 10 saves.
Elizabethtown was led by Frank Puzzangara and Justin Griffey
with three goals apiece. Puzzangara also tallied an assist. Fran
McKeever played the first half in goal for the Blue Jays, making
three saves and allowing eight goals. Chris Schuch was in net
for the second half. He made three saves and gave up five goals.
Lycoming
will play again on Wednesday, April 6, when they host
Susquehanna University at 4 p.m. |
