WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team hosted Drew University, Saturday afternoon, for a Middle Atlantic Conference match. The Warriors exploded for seven goals in the third period en route to a 12-6 win over the Rangers. Lycoming completes the regular season with a record of 9-5 overall and 8-2 within the MAC. Drew falls to 6-8 and 4-6.

The game got off to a slow start offensively, as the Warriors and Rangers combined for just five first-half goals. Lycoming, however, opened the floodgates early in the second half, scoring a trio of man-up goals in the first three minutes of the third quarter. They went on to add four more scores in the period while shutting Drew out.

Dave Kirschner (Sr./Newtown Square, Pa.; Marple Newtown) led the Warriors with seven goals and two assists in the game. Thomas Nairn (So./Fairport, N.Y.; Fairport) added two goals and one assist, while Chris Jordan (Sr./Doylestown, Pa.; Germantown Academy) chipped in one goal and two assists. James Cusick (Fr./Aston, Pa.; Sun Valley) and Tyler Fitzgibbons (Sr./Doylestown, Pa.; Archbishop Wood) accounted for Lycoming’s other two goals.

Erik Shepski (Sr./West Chester, Pa.; Unionville) started in goal for the Warriors. He made nine saves and gave up four goals in 53 minutes. Alex Tankleoff (So./Malvern, Pa.; Great Valley) played the final seven minutes in net, making three saves and allowing two goals.

The Rangers were led by Gil Arbitsman with two goals and one assist. Jason Woodford was Drew’s goalkeeper, making 10 saves and letting up 12 goals.

Lycoming will enter the MAC playoffs as a number three seed and will play host to the number six seed (Drew or Susquehanna) in the first round on Monday, May 2, at 4 p.m. at David Person Field.
