LYCOMING MEN’S LACROSSE HANGS ON FOR CONFERENCE VICTORY

MADISON, N.J. –  The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team opened up their Freedom Conference schedule, Saturday afternoon, at FDU-Florham. The Warriors overcame a late surge by the Devils to hang on for a 9-8 win. The victory improves Lycoming’s record to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference. FDU falls to 1-3 and 0-1.

The Warriors controlled the contest through the first three quarters holding a 7-3 advantage entering the final 15 minutes. The Devils, however, scored five unanswered goals in the period to take an 8-7 lead. Lycoming kept the composure tying the game at 8-8 before scoring the game-winning goal with just more than a minute to play.

Jim Cusick (Fr./Aston, Pa.; Sun Valley) led the Warriors with three goals in the game. Chris McQuade (Sr./Lower Gwynedd, Pa.; Wissahickon), Dave Kirschner (Sr./Newton Square, Pa.; Marple Newton), and Tyler Fitzgibbons (Sr./Doylestown, Pa.; Archbishop Wood) each added two goals. Chris Jordan (Sr./Doylestown, Pa.; Germantown Academy) recorded three assists in the game.

Matt Lyons (So./Radnor, Pa.; Conestoga) made 20 saves in goal for Lycoming.

The Warriors will play again on Thursday, March 24, when they host Elizabethtown College in their home opener.
