LYCOMING MEN’S LACROSSE WINS HOME OPENER

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team hosted Moravian College, Saturday afternoon, in their home opener. The Warriors dominated their Freedom Conference rivals throughout the contest, cruising to a 27-8 victory. Lycoming improves to 1-2 on the season, while the Greyhounds fall to 3-3.

Moravian scored the game’s first goal and held a 2-1 lead midway through the first quarter. The Warriors, however, found their offense and exploded for 15 unanswered goals, including 11 in the second quarter, to grab control of the contest.

Junior attack Sang Duong (Havertown, Pa.; Haverford) led Lycoming with five goals and two assists. Senior Dan Wilcox (Corning, N.Y.; Corning East) added four goals and two assists, while Chris McQuade (Jr./Lower Gwynedd, Pa.; Wissahickon) chipped in three goals and a pair of assists. Dave Kirschner (Jr./Newtown Square, Pa.; Marple Newtown) and Thomas Nairn (Fr./Fairport, N.Y.; Fairport) each recorded three goals as well, while eight other Warriors tallied at least one goal or one assist.

Sean Powers (Sr./Drexel Hill, Pa.; Monsignor Bonner) played the first half in goal for Lycoming, making two saves and giving up two goals. Christian Willaum (Sr./New Milford, Conn.; New Milford), Alex Tankleoff (Fr./Malvern, Pa.; Great Valley), and Matthew Lyons (Fr./Wayne, Pa.; Conestoga) split time in goal in the second half, combining to make five saves and allowing six goals.

The Greyhounds were led by Clint Quedenfeld with two goals and four assists. Moravian goalkeepers combined to make 28 saves, while giving up 27 goals.

The Warriors will play again on Monday, March 29, when they travel to Neumann College.
