MEN’S LACROSSE SUFFERS LOSS AT FDU-FLORHAM
MADISON, NJ –
The Lycoming College
men’s lacrosse team traveled to Madison, New Jersey, Sunday
afternoon for their first conference contest of the season versus
FDU-Florham. The game was played on the artificial turf at Drew
University due the field conditions at FDU. The Warriors struggled
on offense for the second consecutive game en route to a 13-4
setback at the hands of the Devils. Lycoming drops to 0-2 on the
season, while FDU improved to 2-3.
The
Devils grabbed a 3-0 lead in the opening period before the
Warriors broke through with their first goal at the 8:14 mark of
the second period. FDU, however, scored the next eight goals to
pull out to an insurmountable lead. Lycoming did score three goals
in the final period to make the final 13-4.
Ryan
Bergstrom (Sr./Hagerstown, MD; Smithsburg)
led the Warriors with a pair of goals. Rob VanderWiele
(Jr./Hardwick, NJ; Blair Academy) and Dave Dormond
(Jr./Bryn Mawr, PA; Haverford) each found the net once. Dave
Kirschner (So./Newtown Square, PA; Marple Newtown) and Dan
Wilcox (Jr./Corning, NY; Corning East) each recorded assists
in the contest.
Christian
Willaum (Jr./New Milford, CT; New Milford)
made 17 saves in goal for Lycoming.
The
Warriors will be at home for their next contest hosting Drew
University at 3 p.m.
