WARRIOR MEN’S
LACROSSE DROPS SEASON OPENER
ROCHESTER, N.Y.
– The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team opened the 2003
campaign, Monday afternoon, against the 10th ranked
team in the nation Washington College. The Warriors played even
with the Shoremen for a quarter, but Washington then lived up to
their lofty ranking, outscoring Lycoming 10-0 over the next two
periods to run away with a 15-2 victory. The Warriors fall to 0-1
on the season while the Shoremen improved to 1-2. The game was
played at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y.
Dan Wilcox
(Jr./Corning, NY; Corning East)
led Lycoming’s offense with one goal and one assist. Will
Posner (Jr./Gettysburg, PA; Gettysburg) added the Warriors’
other tally.
Washington was
led by Steve Berger with four goals and three assists, and Topher
Brewer with three goals. Seven other players scored at least one
goal for the Shoremen.
Christian
Willaum (Jr./New Milford, CT; Mew Milford)
started in goal for Lycoming, making 20 saves in 53 minutes while
allowing 12 goals. Eric Shepski (So./West Chester, PA;
Unionville) played the final seven minutes making two saves
and allowing three goals. Three Washington goalkeepers combined
for six saves and two goals against.
The Warriors will
play again on Saturday, March 15, versus FDU-Florham. The contest
has been moved to 7 p.m. and will be played at Stevens Institute
of Technology.
