WARRIOR MEN’S LACROSSE WINS CONSOLATION GAME AT ALFRED TOURNAMENT

ALFRED, NY – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team traveled to Alfred University, this weekend, to compete in the Terrence O’Connor Tournament. The Warriors rebounded from a 9-5 loss to eventual champion Clarkson College on Saturday, to defeat Brockport State, 11-4, on Sunday. Lycoming is now 4-2 overall on the season.

The Warriors were led by Dave Dormond (So./Bryn Mawr, PA; Haverford) and Sang Duong (So./Havertown, PA; Haverford) in their win over Brockport. Dormond was tops on the squad with four goals, while Duong led the team with five points on three goals and a pair of assists. Buddy Temple (Sr./Webster, NY; Webster) added two scores, and Ryan Bergstrom (Jr./Hagerstown, MD; Smithsburg) and Shaun Bonnes (So./Ridley Park, PA; Ridley) each tallied a goal. Eric Holzhauer (Sr./Willow Grove, PA; Abington) recorded three assists in the contest.

Christian Willaum (So./New Milford, CT; New Milford) got the win in goal for Lycoming, making 15 saves.

In Saturday’s game, the Warriors were held scoreless in the first half of play but came back with five goals in the second half. Dan Wilcox (So./Corning, NY; Corning-Painted Post East) accounted for two of the scores. Temple, Bergstrom, and Dormond tallied the other three.

Sean Powers (So./Drexel Hill, PA; Monsignor) was in goal versus Clarkson. He made 12 saves while allowing nine goals.

Lycoming returns home for their next contest when they host defending MAC champion Messiah College on Wednesday, March 27. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at David Person Field.
