WARRIOR MEN’S LACROSSE EXORCISES DEVILS

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team hosted conference rival FDU-Madison, Saturday afternoon, in their home opener. The Warriors used a dominating third period to pull away from the Devils and then hung on for the 12-10 victory. The win improves Lycoming’s record to 2-1 overall and 1-0 within the Middle Atlantic Conference. FDU falls to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Devils scored the first goal of the game when Steven Saltini found the back of the net just 50 seconds into the contest. The Warriors, however, responded with three unanswered goals to carry a 3-1 lead into the second quarter. The two teams then traded goals throughout the second period to head into the half with Lycoming leading 7-5.

The Warriors took control of the game in the third period, possessing the ball nearly the entire quarter and outscoring the Devils 3-1. Lycoming got the first two goals of the fourth quarter, as well, to extend their advantage to 12-6 with 9:33 to play. FDU attempted a come back by scoring four unanswered goals, but ultimately ran out of time.

Dan Wilcox (So./Corning, NY; Corning-Painted Post East) led the Warriors with four goals in the game. Sang Duong (So./Havertown, PA; Haverford) and Dave Dormond (So./Bryn Mawr, PA; Haverford) each added two scores. Duong also recorded a pair of assists. Buddy Temple (Sr./Webster, NY; Webster) tallied three assists.

Sophomore Sean Powers (Drexel Hill, PA; Monsignor) got the win in his first career start in goal for the Warriors. He made 13 saves in the contest.

Lycoming will be at home again on Wednesday, March 20, when they host the University of Scranton in another important conference contest. Game time is at 3:30 p.m.
