FIVE LYCOMING ATHLETES NAMED MAC MEN’S LACROSSE ALL-STARS

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Middle Atlantic Conference recently announced their men’s lacrosse all-star teams for the 2002 season. Lycoming College claimed five honorees – two on the first-team and three on the second-team.

Last season’s rookie-of-the-year Sang Duong (So./Havertown, Pa; Haverford) was joined by Michael Mack (So./Basking Ridge, NJ; Ridge) as first-team all-stars this season.

Duong was the Warriors’ top playmaker on the attack, leading the squad in assists with 42 while also scoring 29 goals. He also ranked second in the conference in assists-per-game and fourth in points-per-game. In addition to being the rookie-of-the-year in 2001, Duong was also a second-team all-star.

Mack was named a first-team all-star as a defensemen. Mack was Lycoming’s leading defender in 2002, typically guarding their opponent’s top offensive threat. He was seventh on the team with 43 groundballs and he scored one goal on the season.

Buddy Temple (Sr./Webster, NY; Webster), Dan Wilcox (So./Corning, NY; Corning-Painted Post East), and Frank Loughran (So./Bala Cynwood, PA; Harriton) were all named to the second team.

Temple was the Warriors’ top-scoring midfielder with 27 goals and 14 assists on the year. He also picked up 56 groundballs. This is the second consecutive year Temple has been named a conference all-star.

Wilcox earns his first all-star honor after stepping up as Lycoming’s leading goal scorer in 2002. The sophomore attack found the back of the net 43 times and assisted on 12 other goals to rank second on the team with 55 points. Wilcox also added 50 groundballs.

Loughran earned all-star recognition at the long-stick middie position. Loughran was the spark in the Warriors’ transition game. He tallied 28 groundballs for the season.

As a team Lycoming finished the 2002 campaign with a mark of 12-5 and finished as the runner-up in the conference tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
