WESNER
AND LEVAN HONORED BY CONFERENCE
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. – Lycoming College student-athletes Thomas Wesner
(So./Dillsburg; Northern Senior) and Lyndy LeVan (So./South
Williamsport; South Williamsport) were honored by the MAC
Freedom Conference for their performances on the basketball court
last week.
Wesner
was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Week for his role
in the Warriors 1-1 finish at the Sprint Blue Jay Classic
last weekend at Elizabethtown. In two games, he scored 60 points
and shot better than 62% from the field, including 15-of-23 from
three-point range. In Saturday’s victory over Waynesburg
College, Wesner scored 25 points on the strength of six triples.
On Sunday, versus Elizabethtown, he knocked down nine
three-pointers en route to a 35-point performance. Wesner also
recorded seven assists and six rebounds during the tournament and
was named to the all-tournament team.
LeVan
was named to the Freedom Conference honor roll for her play in
three games for the Lady Warriors last week. LeVan is averaging 22
points per game since returning from the holiday break. She has
scored 21, 19 and 26 points in consecutive games against Juniata,
Messiah and Elizabethtown. She has also tallied 24 rebounds, six
blocked shots and six assists over the three-game span. During
that stretch LeVan has shot 45.5% (25-of-55) from the field and
72.7% (16-of-22) from the free throw line.
Both
players return to action on Wednesday evening when Lycoming
travels to Wilkes University for a conference doubleheader. The
women are scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at
approximately 8 p.m.
