LYCOMING MEN COME UP SHORT AGAINST ROYALS

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted the University of Scranton, Wednesday evening, in the nightcap of a MAC Freedom Conference doubleheader. The Warriors came back from an early deficit to lead the game midway through the second half, but the Royals had the final surge to pull out a 74-69 victory.

Lycoming trailed most of the first half, heading to the locker room down 40-37. The Warriors, however, quickly erased that deficit in the second half and took a seven-point lead with just under 12 minutes to play. From that point, the Royals made their move, going on a 16-1 run over the next four minutes. Lycoming battled back to within two down the stretch, but Scranton was strong from the free-throw line to secure the win.

Chris Napier (Jr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley) led the Warriors offensively with 20 points. He was closely followed by Jason Black (Jr./Duncannon; Susquenita) with 18 markers, including 3-of-3 from behind the arc. David Ganisin (Sr./Endicott, NY; Endicott Union) led the team in rebounds with eight, while scoring 13 points. Thomas Wesner (So/Dillsburg; Northern Senior) added 15 points.

Derek Elphick was the game’s leading scorer with 28 points. Al Callejas chipped in 16 for the Royals.

Lycoming falls to 10-9 overall and 5-5 within the MAC Freedom Conference with the loss. Scranton improves to 11-8 and 6-4. The Warriors will travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip.
