MEN GROUND EAGLES
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team took a break
from conference action to host Elmira College, Monday evening. The
Warriors controlled the game from start to finish, defeating the
Eagles, 92-70.
Lycoming
opened the game with an 8-0 run and although Elmira came back to
take a 35-34 lead late in the first half; the Warriors were able
to carry an eight point advantage into the half. The second half
was all Lycoming as the Warriors put the game away with a 21-5 run
midway through the period.
All
16 Lycoming players saw action in the game with 12 scoring two or
more points. The Warriors out-rebounded Elmira 57-30 while
shooting 49.3% from the field.
Thomas
Wesner (So./Dillsburg; Northern) led all scorers with 26 points. He also grabbed
eight rebounds and tallied three steals and three assists. Chris
Napier (Jr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley) added 20 points,
eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Reserve center David
Stark (Sr./Sugarloaf; Bishop Hafey) reached double figures
with 10 points and pulled down five boards.
Lycoming
returns to conference action on Wednesday when they host the
University of Scranton. Both teams enter the game with conference
records of 5-4, tied for second place in the MAC Freedom
Conference. The Warriors are now 10-8 overall. Tip-off on
Wednesday is at 8 p.m. following the women’s game at 6 p.m.
