WARRIORS
FALL IN FIRST ROUND OF PLAYOFFS
SCRANTON, Pa.
– The Lycoming College men’s basketball team traveled to
the University of Scranton, Wednesday evening, for a first
round match-up in the MAC Freedom Conference playoffs. The
Warriors had their season come to an end, falling 85-74 to the
Royals.
The first
half was back and forth throughout. Scranton scored the first
two baskets of the game to take the early lead. Lycoming
settled down and went on a small run to take a five point lead
five minutes into the game. The Royals responded with a run of
their own, outscoring the Warriors 17-3 over a five-minute
stretch. Lycoming fought back again, tying the game twice
before Scranton carried a four-point advantage into the half.
The
difference in the game came at the start of the second half,
when the Royals used a 17-5 spurt to take a 16-point lead. The
Warriors were forced to play catch-up the remainder of the
game. Despite closing within eight after back-to-back
three-pointers by senior Brian Lindsay (Gettysburg;
Gettysburg), Lycoming could not get any closer as Scranton
made clutch free throws down the stretch.
Chris
Napier (Jr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley)
led the Warriors with 19 points, eight rebounds and four
assists. Lindsay added 13 points, including a trio of
three-point field goals. Thomas Wesner (So./Dillsburg;
Northern Senior) and Jason Black (Jr./Duncannon;
Susquenita) chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Lycoming
completes their season with a record of 13-12 overall. The
Royals improved to 15-10 and will face Wilkes University in
the conference championship game on Saturday at the Marts
Center.
