LYCOMING MEN RETURN TO WIN COLUMN AT
DELAWARE VALLEY

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team took one step closer to a birth in the conference playoffs with an 81-74 victory at Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon. The win was the Warriors’ first in three games after winning a season-high five in a row. The win also evens their conference record at 6-6 and moves them in to a tie for third-place with King’s College who lost to DeSales University on Saturday.

Neither team could take charge of the game in the early going, as the lead swapped hands throughout the first half. A jumper by senior Brain Lindsay (Gettysburg; Gettysburg) gave Lycoming a one-point cushion at the break.

The Aggies scored the first eight points of the second half to open a seven-point margin over the Warriors. Lycoming responded with a 12-point run of their own to retake the lead. But Delaware Valley again fought back and led by three with three minutes to play. The Warriors then won the game by outscoring the Aggies 15-5 down the stretch.

“The guys played hard today,” said head coach Terry Conrad. “ At crucial times of the game, they executed the offense and in tough situations came up with the big play.”

Thomas Wesner (So./Dillsburg; Northern Senior) led all scorers with 32 points, including seven in the final three minutes. He also tallied six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Chris Napier (Jr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley) added 20 points and 10 rebounds. David Ganisin (Sr./Endicott, NY; Union Endicott) poured in 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots. Jason Black (Jr./Duncannon; Susquenita) led the Warriors with 10 assists.

“I’m pleased with how we played today,” said Conrad. “We did an excellent job of keeping Delaware Valley off the offensive glass and Jason Black had a great day defensively. It was a solid performance.”

Lycoming moves back to .500 with the win at 11-11 overall. They are 6-6 in the conference with two games left to play. The Warriors return to Lamade Gymnasium on Wednesday, February 14 to host Drew University. They will travel to FDU-Madison on Feb. 17 for their final regular season contest of the year.
