MADISON, N.J.
--- Lycoming men’s basketball continued its string of strong
shooting performances and made its seven point halftime lead
stand up as the Warriors downed FDU-Florham 88-80 in a Freedom
Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. Lycoming
improves to 10-9, 4-4 in the league play while FDU falls to
4-15, 1-7.
Senior
Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) and
freshman post Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly)
combined for 27 of Lycoming’s first half output as the
Warriors built a 44-37 edge going into the intermission.
Pribble canned 3-of-6 three-point attempts on his way to
17 first stanza scores while Syes knocked down three field goals
and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe for his 10
points.
Lycoming
kept the scoring rolling in the second frame with sophomore Kevin
Morris (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) joining the party for 11 of
his 19 total points. He
pulled the trigger on four jumpers from beyond the arc, nailing
three of them
Pribble
finished the afternoon with a game-high 28 points to go along with six rebounds.
Sye put together his second strong performance from the
post with a 22-point effort to go along with a game-best eight
boards. Senior
point guard Brad Musser (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg)
put up his second successive contest in double figures with 11
points to go with four assists and just as many steals.
FDU-Florham wasn’t short on scoring either as five Devils
posted double-digit scoring totals led by Jason McClendon’s
18 points. Adam
Biancosino added 14 points while Pierre Schmitt and Frank
Emslie each contributed 11.
Brian Dillon chipped in 10 points to go with seven
assists.
The free throw line help provide much of the difference for
Lycoming. The
Warriors knocked down a season-high 29-of-34 shots from the
stripe for a sparkling 85.4 percent showing.
In contrast, FDU-Florham attempted 21 free throws, making
16 of them.
The Warriors came into today’s game ranked fourth in the
league in a tie with DeSales University.
The Bulldogs earned that spot with a 77-69 victory over
the Warriors on Thursday. With
only the top four teams making it to the conference postseason
tournament, and six games remaining against conference foes,
each game from here out will have a large effect on the
Warriors’ playoff hopes.
Lycoming continues its drive towards the postseason on
Wednesday, February 1, as the Warriors travel to Wilkes
University looking to knock off the conference leading Colonels.
Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre.
