Warriors
Dominate Wilkes
Sye Scores 17 in Rout
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s basketball team (11-9, 4-5)
defeated Wilkes (9-9, 1-8) by a score of 78-52 on Wednesday
night at Lamade Gymnasium. The Warriors have now won three of
their last four conference games and are looking to make a run
at the Freedom Conference playoffs.
Junior
Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, PA) scored all 11 of his points in
the first half helping Lycoming to a 40-18 halftime lead.
Morris’ long-range accuracy was unnecessary against the
Colonels, as he hit only two three-pointers on the
night. Sophomore forward Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA) took
control early and often, leading the Warriors with 17 points.
Sye also grabbed six rebounds.
With the
game well in check, Rickey Varnell (Patterson, NY) scored
10 of his 12 points in the second period. Varnell’s seven
rebounds were second only junior guard David Wilson’s
(Pottsville, PA) eight boards. Wilson also recorded 10
points on the night.
With
consecutive conference wins, the Warriors are on a roll heading
into the season’s final five conference games. Lycoming’s
momentum is rising as the playoffs loom near.
On Saturday,
the Warriors travel to Drew University for a 3:00 p.m. game.
Lycoming defeated Drew on December 2, 65-53. The Warriors then
travel to King’s and return to Lamade Gymnasium on February 10
to face DeSales.
