Warriors Defeat
Drew
Wilson Leads Scoring
for Second Straight Game
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa.—The men’s basketball team (3-2) hosted conference foe Drew
(2-3) on Saturday, defeating the Rangers 65-53. Senior
co-captain David Wilson (Pottsville, PA) led the Warriors
in scoring for the second straight game.
The first half
was not a high-scoring affair. Lycoming sprinted to a good lead
out of the starting gate, but the Rangers showed their mettle
and climbed back in 14-13. Wilson led both teams with 11
points at the break and Lycoming led 24-23. The Rangers’ Dave
Pepperman scored eight of his 12 points in the opening
period, but the Warrior big men slowed him down late in the
game.
After halftime,
Lycoming turned up the pressure and gradually inflated their
lead. A steal and two-handed dunk by Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA)
highlighted Lycoming’s performance, putting the Warriors up
46-36. Sye recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds on the day, giving
him a double double.
With 2:30 left
in the game, sophomore Jemayne Nowlin (Gaithersburg, MD)
drained a three-pointer and completed the four-point play with a
foul shot. Nowlin had 16 points for the game, including 2 for 5
from beyond the three-point line. Kevin Morris (Camp Hill,
PA) hit all six of his free throws and ended the game with
11 points.
Lycoming next
travels to Lafayette on Thursday, December 7. The game will
start at 7:00 p.m. The Warriors then play at Susquehanna on
Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Their next home game will be December, 19
against Penn College.
