Six Warriors Reach
Double Digits in Win
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—For the third time in as many years, the Lycoming
men’s basketball team (5-4) faced Pennsylvania College of
Technology (2-9). And, for the third
consecutive year, the
Warriors won the battle of Williamsport schools. Tuesday’s game
was the most lopsided of the three contests, with Lycoming
claiming a 95-55 victory on their home court.
Six Warriors
reached double digit points, including big man Ricky Varnell
(Patterson, NY), who led the team with 15. Juniors David
Wilson (Pottsville, PA) and Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, PA),
and sophomore Brad Wilkinson (Piscataway, NJ) each sunk a
pair of three-pointers. Morris, Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA)
and Matt McGair (Mt. Laurel, NJ) had seven rebounds
apiece.
Penn
College’s Tom Little led the Wildcats with 21 points,
making 67% of his shots on the evening. Little also snagged a
team-high six rebounds. Penn College started three hometown
players: Jameel McAfee, Matt Michaels and Jamal
Thomas.
At the half,
Lycoming was shooting 71% from the field and went in leading
57-23. Sye scored all of his 12 points in the first half,
adding only a rebound and a block in minimal second half play.
Sophomore Anthony Watson (Philadelphia, PA) scored a
personal season-high 10 points on the night for the Warriors.
Lycoming
suits up again this Thursday at Lamade Gymnasium where they host
Shenandoah University at 7:00 p.m.
