Warriors
Roll Into Tip-Off Tourney Championship
Lycoming to Face Nationally
Ranked Randolph-Macon
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s basketball team defeated John Jay
69-49 in the first game of the Warrior Tip-Off Tournament Friday
night. The Warriors will face nationally-ranked Randolph-Macon
in the Tip-Off championship on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
Lycoming’s
Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA) led all scorers in game one,
pulling a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Sye
showed why he was voted Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year in
2005-06, adding three assists and a block on the night.
The Warriors
jumped to a big lead early, going into halftime up 46-21. With
point guard Anthony Watson (Philadelphia, PA) controlling
the tempo, Lycoming never looked back. Forward Kevin Morris
(Camp Hill, PA) was 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, scoring 12
points all night, while captain David Wilson (Pottsville, PA)
rained in 11 points.
Lycoming’s
opponent for tomorrow’s championship dominated the second game,
cruising past Penn State-Berks 106-59. Randolph-Macon is ranked
#15 by www.d3hoops.com. Warrior Head Coach Don Friday would
love to knock off the Virginia school and get some national
attention. The championship game starts at 4:00 p.m. at Lamade
Gymnasium. The 2:00 consolation game pits Penn State-Berks
versus John Jay.
