Lycoming Closes Season with a Win
Warriors Defeat Delaware Valley on the Road

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.—Lycoming (13-12, 6-8) defeated Freedom Conference foe Delaware Valley (5-20, 3-11) by a score of 80-75 in the final game of the 2006-07 season for both teams. The Aggies led at halftime, 44-34, but the Warriors were able to come back to claim victory.

The win clinched a winning season for Lycoming, as junior Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, PA) continued to rain threes on Warrior opponents. Morris’ four three-pointers helped him to 22 points on the day. He also garnered six rebounds and a team-high six assists.

The Warriors shot 58.1 percent in the second half, erasing Delaware valley’s ten-point lead and last minute hopes for victory. Sophomore Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA) culminated his season with 15 points and a pair of rebounds. Meanwhile, freshman big man Rickey Varnell (Patterson, NY), pulled down a team-high nine boards.

Junior David Wilson (Pottsville, PA) had a strong performance with 13 points and three assists, while Jemayne Nowlin (Gaithersburg, MD) recorded nine points, including a three and two key free throws down the stretch. The game was still a one-possession contest with just over 42 seconds left in regulation, but the difference was made at the foul line. Along with Nowlin’s two, Morris drained four of five foul shots in the final minute to give Lycoming the win.

Delaware Valley senior Isaiah Pinckney put up 21 points for the Aggies, while Zack Van Dyke notched 18 in the losing effort.

Lycoming finishes its season on a high note. With no seniors on the 2006-07 squad, the Warriors hope to ride their momentum into a successful 2007-08 campaign.
