WARRIOR MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS DELAWARE VALLEY

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team traveled to Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference tilt. L.J. Huggler (Sr./St. Mary’s, Pa.; St. Mary’s) and Jonathan Pribble (So./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain) combined for 46 points and 18 rebounds as the Warriors rallied from a halftime deficit to down the Aggies, 90-76. Lycoming ups their record to 15-5 overall and 7-2 within the conference with the win. Delaware Valley drops to 3-17 and 2-8.

Huggler finished with 27 points and nine rebounds while Pribble added 19 points and nine boards. Earlier in the season, the two combined for 59 points and 19 rebounds in a 95-67 victory over the Aggies in Williamsport.

The Aggies shot 48.1 percent from the field in the first half as they took a 36-34 lead into the intermission. The Warriors came out and scored the first five points of the second stanza for a 3-point lead, but Delaware Valley tied it up on four separate occasions.

Lycoming built a five-point lead, 67-62, as Huggler hit a layup with 7:52 to go, but the Aggies came right back as freshman Mike Zupa nailed back-to-back 3-pointers just 34 seconds apart for a one-point Aggie lead.

The Warriors took the lead for good as Curtis Mays (So./Philadelphia, Pa.; University City) scored five straight points to start a 23-6 run that resulted in a 90-74 Lycoming lead with seven seconds remaining. Brad Musser (So./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) had nine points in the spurt while Mays and Huggler contributed eight and four points respectively. Both Mays and Musser finished the game with 15 points, while Musser also led the team with six assists and Mays pulled down eight rebounds and handed out five assists.

Freshman Mike Thornton paced the Aggies with 18 points, six rebounds and six assists. Fellow rookie Javon Alston scored 17 points off the bench.

Lycoming will play again on Wednesday, February 11, when they host King’s College. Tip-off for the contest is set for 8 p.m.
