LYCOMING MEN’S BASKETBALL SUFFERS
FIRST LOSS
ASHLAND, Va.
– The Lycoming College men’s basketball team challenged
Randolph-Macon College, Thursday evening, in the championship
game of the Rees Jewelers Christmas Classic hosted by the Yellow
Jackets. The Warriors came up short in their bid to match the
program’s longest winning streak, falling to Randolph-Macon
66-88. Lycoming falls to 10-1 overall, while the Yellow Jackets
improve to 5-5 on the season.
Patrick
Baylor (Jr./Broomall, Pa.; Cardinal O’Hara)
opened the game with a three-pointer for the Warriors, but
Randolph-Macon scored the next 10 points to take a seven-point
lead just three minutes into the game. An 11-2 run by the Yellow
Jackets later in the period extended their lead to 16 and the
home team went into halftime leading 47-33.
In the
second half, Randolph-Macon continued to control the action
building a 27-point cushion with 13 minutes to play in the game.
Lycoming, however, did not roll over outscoring the home team
20-5 over the next seven minutes to pull with 12. But time was
not on the Warriors’ side as the Yellow Jackets pulled away down
the stretch for the victory.
Jonathan
Pribble (Jr./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain)
led all players with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the contest
and was named to the all-tournament team. Jeremiah Edison
(Sr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) added 14 points and six
rebounds, while Kevin Morris (Fr./Camp Hill, Pa.; Trinity)
chipped in 12 markers. Brad Musser (Jr./Mifflinburg, Pa.;
Mifflinburg) recorded a team-high five assists.
Randolph-Macon was led by Justin Wansley with 20 points and
eight boards. Philip Hawley contributed 15 points and nine
rebounds, while Adam Krovic came off the bench to score 10
points.
Lycoming is
