MEN’S BASKETBALL PLACES THREE PLAYERS ON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Freedom Conference
announced the men’s basketball all-conference teams, Monday
afternoon. Lycoming College placed three student-athletes on the
teams – sophomore Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, Pa.; Central
Mountain) on the first team and seniors Matt Stackhouse
(Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) and L.J. Huggler (St.
Marys, Pa.; St. Marys) on the second team.
Pribble,
the 2002-03 rookie of the year, is averaging 18.2 points and 5.8
rebounds per game this season. He has also recorded 48 assists,
20 steals, and 11 blocked shots in 24 games. He ranks third in
the conference in scoring, sixth in three-point percentage,
ninth in rebounds, and 10th in blocked shots. Pribble
was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Week on January
12th after averaging 29.7 points and 7.7 rebounds
over a three game span.
Stackhouse,
a first-team all-conference selection a year ago, missed 10
games this season due to injury. However, in 15 games played he
leads the Warriors in scoring and rebounding averaging 18.6
points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Stackhouse has also blocked
29 shots. If he had played enough games to qualify, he would be
second in the league in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots;
fourth in field-goal percentage; and seventh in free-throw
percentage. Prior to his injury, Stackhouse was named the
conference player of the week on December 22, after averaging
23.5 points and 17.5 rebounds in games versus Elmira College and
Division I Lafayette College.
Huggler
is Lycoming’s third leading scorer averaging 14.6 points and 5.4
rebounds per game. He ranks second in the conference in
field-goal percentage, eighth in free-throw percentage, ninth in
scoring, and 10th in rebounding. Huggler stepped up
as the team leader when Stackhouse went down with his injury,
averaging 20 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 10 games,
including seven in conference. Huggler was named the Freedom
Conference Player of the Week on January 26, following a week in
which he led the Warriors to three victories by averaging 18.3
points and four rebounds per game while shooting nearly 70% from
the field.
Pribble,
Stackhouse, and Huggler will look to extend their season on
Wednesday, February 25, when they travel to King’s College for a
Freedom Conference tournament semifinal contest. Tip-off is
scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for
seniors, $2 for students, and free to children six and under.
