MEN’S BASKETBALL SUFFERS LOSS AT DESALES
Enters Conference Tournament at Number Three Seed
CENTER
VALLEY, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team
traveled to DeSales University, Saturday afternoon, for a battle
for first place in the Freedom Conference. The Warriors came up
short, however, falling to the Bulldogs 62-71. The loss drops
Lycoming to third in the conference behind DeSales and King’s
College. The Warriors will travel to King’s for a semifinal
match-up in the conference tournament on Wednesday, February 25.
Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Lycoming is now 18-7 on the season,
while the Bulldogs improved to 22-3.
The Warriors
got off to a strong start, scoring the first five points and
holding a 10-5 advantage five minutes into the game. DeSales,
however, went on a 13-0 run over the next five minutes to open
up an 18-10 lead. Lycoming’s deficit would grow as large as 12
points before heading to the locker room trailing 26-37.
In the
second half, the Warriors chipped away at the Bulldogs’ lead
only to have the home team find an answer every time. Late in
the period, Lycoming used a 7-0 run to pull within five points
with 2:24 to play, but could get no closer, scoring just two
points the rest of the way.
Jonathan
Pribble (So./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain)
led the Warriors with 18 points and nine rebounds in the
contest. L.J. Huggler (Sr./St. Marys, Pa.; St. Marys)
added 12 points and four boards. Matt Stackhouse
(Sr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) scored eight points, but
played only 14 minutes of the game.
