LYCOMING MEN’S BASKETBALL DEFEATS DREW

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team played their final home game of the regular season, Thursday evening, versus Drew University. The Warriors scored the first 11 points of the contest and cruised to an 81-59 victory. Lycoming improves to 18-6 overall and 10-3 within the conference. The Rangers fall to 6-16 and 3-10.

The Warriors started the game by putting on a clinic on how to play inside-outside basketball. Seniors L.J. Huggler (St. Marys, Pa.; St. Marys) and Matt Stackhouse (Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) each scored twice from the paint and sophomore Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain) connected on a three-point field goal as Lycoming opened up an 11-0 lead three minutes into the game. Drew answered with a three-pointer of their own for their first bucket, but would get no closer the rest of the game. The Warriors led by 12 at the half and stretched the margin to as many as 24 in the second half.

Huggler led all scorers with 22 points, while grabbing six rebounds. Pribble added 16 markers on the strength of five three-pointers. Stackhouse recorded 12 points and nine rebounds. Brad Musser (So./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) led the squad with eight assists. Senior J.J. Manikowski (Duboistown, Pa.; South Williamsport) was honored prior to the game, along with Huggler and Stackhouse, and knocked down a three-pointer in his only field-goal attempt in the game.

The Rangers were led by Brad Greenman with 16 points and Bernard Buttone with nine points. Nick Elmo added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Lycoming will travel to DeSales University on Saturday, February 21, for their final regular season game of the year. The Warriors are already in the Freedom Conference playoffs, but can earn the first, second, or third seed depending on results from Saturday’s games. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
