MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS CONFERENCE GAME AT KING’S
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team
traveled to King’s College, Wednesday evening, for their first
Freedom Conference game in over a month. The Warriors held a
slim lead at halftime, but could not hold on as the Monarchs
pulled away in the final minutes for a 74-65 victory. Lycoming
falls to 8-4 overall and 1-1 versus conference opponents. King’s
improves to 12-2 and 3-0.
The Warriors
controlled the action early pulling out to a 20-10 lead midway
through the first half. The Monarchs, however, whittled away at
the deficit and drew within one by halftime at 30-29.
In the
second half, the two squads traded the lead seven times before
King’s went on a 13-0 run to seize a 66-57 advantage with 2:10
to play. Lycoming could get no closer than five points down the
stretch as they dropped their first conference contest of the
season.
Jonathan
Pribble (So./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain)
led the Warriors with 17 points and five rebounds. L.J.
Huggler (Sr./St. Mary’s, Pa.; St. Mary’s) and Jeremiah
Edison (Jr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) each added 10
points and pulled down six and four rebounds, respectively.
Curtis Mays (So./Philadelphia, Pa.; University City) led the
squad with 11 rebounds and Shaun Morris (Jr./Camp Hill, Pa.;
Trinity) dished out a game-high six assists.
The Monarchs
were led by Brian Horgan with 21 points. Jamar Stokes added 15
markers and Dannie Evans chipped in 10 points.
Lycoming
will be in action again on Saturday, January 17, when they host
conference foe Delaware Valley College. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
following the women’s contest. |
