WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference contest. The Warriors pulled out to a double-digit lead in the first half and then withstood an Aggie comeback late in the second half to record an 87-83 victory. Lycoming improves to 15-6 overall and 6-4 within the conference with the win. Delaware Valley falls to 8-13 and 3-7.

The Warriors started strong building a 13-6 lead five minutes into the game and then extending their advantage to 15 by halftime thanks to a 10-0 run late in the period.

Lycoming maintained control early in the second half, with the home team’s lead swelling to as many as 19. The Aggies, however, turned up the defensive intensity, forced some turnovers and made a run at the Warriors. Trailing 60-43 with 15 minutes to play, Delaware Valley went on a 10-2 run to close within single digits. Lycoming tried to rebuild their lead, pushing their advantage to 84-70 with five minutes to play. The Aggies would score the next 11 points to close within three points with less than a minute to play. The Warriors, however, secured the victory by hitting 3-of-4 free throws in the final 20 seconds.

Jonathan Pribble (Jr./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain) led all players with 31 points in the game. He also added five rebounds, four assists, and four blocked shots. Kevin Morris (Fr./Camp Hill, Pa.; Trinity) added 16 points on the strength of four three-pointers. Curtis Mays (Jr./Philadelphia, Pa.; University City) and Jeremiah Edison (Sr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) came off the bench to chip in 12 and 11 points, respectively. Edison also led the squad with six rebounds. Shaun Morris (Sr./Camp Hill, Pa.; Trinity) and Brad Musser (Jr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) each recorded nine assists in the contest.

Delaware Valley was led by Meril Branch with 25 points. Isaiah Pinckney added 23 points and three assists. Randall Graves and Maurice Slaughter each chipped in 10 markers. Orlon Baker led all players with 13 boards.

Lycoming will play again on Wednesday, February 9, when they travel to King’s College for another conference tilt.
