Warriors Fall at Etown
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Lycoming men’s basketball opened its 2005-06 road
schedule on Tuesday evening in less that desirable fashion as
the Warriors dropped a high octane contest with Elizabethtown
87-79. Lycoming falls to 1-2 on the season while E-town
improves to 2-1.
The Blue Jays
used an efficient transition game to catch the Warrior defense
off guard. After each made Lycoming basket, E-town pushed the
ball up the court resulting in several uncontested lay-ups
through the heart of the Warrior defense.
Turnovers and
second-chance opportunities didn’t help the Warrior cause.
Lycoming committed 17 miscues to E-town’s nine and surrendered
22 points off those turnovers. The Blue Jays collected 14
offensive rebounds and registered 18 points via the extra
chances.
Lycoming did
recover from a sub par first half shooting performance that saw
the Warriors go 9-for-25 from the field including 3-for-15 from
beyond the arc. In the second half, Lycoming shot a blistering
63.0 percent (17-27) and canned half of the 10 three-pointers
they attempted to finish with an even 50 percent shooting night
(26-52).
Senior forward
Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) led all
scorers with 21 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Greg Sye
(Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) recorded his second double-double
with 13 points and 11 boards. Senior Patrick Baylor
(Broomall, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) shot 4-for-7 from deep on
his way to a 15-point effort, and sophomore Kevin Morris
(Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) dropped in 10 tallies.
Five Blue Jays
scored in double figures led by guard Greg Adams.
Forward Michael Schatzmann added 12 points and team-best
eight boards including six offensive rebounds.
Lycoming is
next action on Sunday, November 27, as the Warriors welcome
Arcadia to Williamsport. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in
Lamade Gymnasium.
