WARRIOR MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS GAME
AT WILKES
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lycoming
College men’s basketball team traveled to Wilkes University,
Wednesday evening, for a Freedom Conference contest. The
Warriors played a strong first half, but could not hold on for
the victory falling to the Colonels, 73-79. The loss drops
Lycoming to 12-4 overall and 3-2 within the conference. Wilkes
improves to 10-3 and 4-1.
The Colonels opened the game with
a 10-2 run, but the Warriors settled in and held the home team
to just 19 points the rest of the half to carry a 36-29
advantage to the locker room.
In the second half, Wilkes again
started quickly with a 9-3 run that pulled them back within one.
The difference in the game, however, came at the free-throw line
as the Colonels made 28-of-35 free throws to just 6-of-11 for
Lycoming. The 25-point advantage from the charity stripe
resulted in a six-point win for Wilkes.
The Warriors were led by
Jonathan Pribble (Jr./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain) with
a game-high 29 points. Kevin Morris (Fr./Camp Hill, Pa.;
Trinity) added 13 points and Brad Musser
(Jr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) chipped in 12 markers.
Jeremiah Edison (Sr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) led
the squad with eight rebounds, while scoring five points.
The Colonels had five players in
double figures, led by John Yanniello with 27 points. Evan
Walters added 17, Chris Shovlin scored 12, and Mike Constantine
and Greg Cardmore each chipped in 10 points. Cardmore also
pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
Lycoming will look to rebound on
Saturday, January 22, when they host FDU-Florham for another
conference tilt. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
