WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted DeSales University, Saturday afternoon, for a critical Freedom Conference contest. The Warriors needed a victory to secure a berth in the conference playoffs, but fell to the Bulldogs, 81-57. The loss combined with a victory by Wilkes University over Drew University, 64-61, eliminated Lycoming from the post-season. The Warriors finish the 2004-05 campaign with an overall record of 17-8 and a conference mark of 8-6. DeSales earnes the number-one seed for the conference tournament and finishes the regular season with a record of 19-6 and 11-3.

Lycoming fell behind early as the Bulldogs were on fire from beyond the arc, making six three-point field goals in the first nine minutes of the game to build a 22-7 lead. The Warriors fought back to within six points with 3:31 remaining in the half, but DeSales scored the final five points of the period to hold a 43-30 lead at halftime.

In the second half Lycoming could get no closer than within nine points of the Bulldogs as the visitors remained hot from the outside shooting 58% from three-point range for the game.

Jonathan Pribble (Jr./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain) and Curtis Mays (Jr./Philadelphia, Pa.; University City) each scored 12 points to pace the Warriors. Kevin Morris (Fr./Camp Hill, Pa.; Trinity) added 10 points, while Jeremiah Edison (Sr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) chipped in eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Shaun Morris (Sr./Camp Hill, Pa.; Trinity) and Brad Musser (Jr./Mifflinburg, Pa.; Mifflinburg) each recorded four assists in the game.

DeSales was led by Michael Venafra with 29 points on the strength of seven three-pointers. Kyle Koch added 21 points and five assists. Drew Christman came off the bench to chip in 15 points – all on three-point field goals.
