2005-06 Men's Basketball

Warriors Out-Gunned by Carnegie Mellon
Box score

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Lycoming men’s basketball dropped its second game away on the road this season as the Warriors fell to Carnegie Mellon University 99-83 in Pittsburgh on Tuesday evening.  Lycoming falls to 3-4 on the season while Tartans improve to 7-0.

Neither squad had any trouble putting the ball in the hoop as the duo combined for a 72-for-132 (54.5 percent) shooting night from the field.  The Warriors dropped in 33-of-67 field goals for a 49.6 percent clip, but the Tartans finished with a scorching 60.0 percent from the field on 39-of-65 shooting.

Senior forward Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) led four Warriors in double figures with a game-high 23 points.  He canned a trio of three-pointers, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked two shots.  Sophomore forward Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) added 16 points, but missed all five of his long-distance attempts.  Senior point guard Brad Musser (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) dropped in 12 tallies and sophomore guard Dave Wilson (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) contributed 11 points.

Six Tartans recorded double-digit scoring totals led by 17 points and 10 rebounds from Clayton Barlow-Wilcox and 17 points and six boards from Marques JohnsonNate Maurer and Bary Dunn added 16 points apiece, and Rob Pearson and A.J. Straub added 12 and 10 tallies, respectively.

Inside points and rebounding proved to be the major differences for the scoring margin.  CMU enjoyed a 40-24 edge in rebounding including 12 offensive boards that led to 17 second chance points.  The Tartans dominated the paint from the blocks as well in recording 62 points down low compared to 36 from the Warriors.

Lycoming looks to get back on track on Saturday, December 10, as the Warriors host Susquehanna University.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
