Warriors Thump FDU for First Conference Win
Boxscore

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming men’s basketball rebounded from a tough league opening loss to the University of Scranton with a 64-44 drubbing of FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon in Lamade Gymnasium.

Sophomore Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) led all scorers with a season-high 21 points.  He shot 5-for-10 from three-point range and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line.  Senior Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) added 11 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore Dave Wilson (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) notched 10 tallies.

FDU’s attacked was led by Pierre Schmitt with 13 points and eight boards followed by 11 points from center Brian Rimol.

Control of the glass and bench scoring were keys for the Warriors on the way to victory.  Lycoming out-rebounded the Devils 48-34 including 15 offensive boards that led to 11 second chance points.  Lycoming’s bench bunch, led by Morris, out-scored the Devils’ contingent 27-15.

Lycoming went in to the half up 41-22 thanks in part to a 16-point outburst from Morris.  He canned 4-of-5 from deep to lead a Warrior offensive effort that shot 50.0 percent from the field and nailed 7-of-11 three-pointers in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Warriors first stanza defense was just as effective as its offense in holding the Devils to only 6-for-24 shooting (25.0 percent).  FDU made only one of six three-point tries.

In the second half, Lycoming’s shooting lowered to a 28.6 percent clip, but the defense remained taught in holding the Devil’s to a 27.3 percent second half showing including only 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Lycoming takes a quick break from conference play for its next game as the Warriors travel to Carnegie-Mellon University on Tuesday, December 6.  Game time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
