LYCOMING MEN’S HOOPS CRUISES PAST FDU-FLORHAM

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team moved one step closer to securing a place in the Freedom Conference playoffs with a win over FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon. The Warriors had four starters score in double digits as they recorded a comfortable 81-63 victory over the Devils. Lycoming improves to 14-7 overall and 9-1 in the conference to remain in first place. FDU falls to 9-12 and 2-8.

The Warriors scored the game’s first four points and quickly pulled out a nine-point lead just five minutes into the game. The Devils responded and used a 10-0 run midway through the period to grab their only lead of the game at 22-20 with 9:45 to play in the half. Lycoming, however, outscored FDU 15-5 over the last 10 minutes to take a 35-27 advantage into the intermission.

The Warriors kept the pressure on in the second half, using a 16-4 run at the start of the period to increase their lead to 20. The Devils would get no closer than 16 the rest of the way as Lycoming cruised to the win.

Tommy Wesner (Sr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern) and Jonathan Pribble (Fr./Woolrich, PA; Central Mountain) each scored 21 points to lead the Warriors. Matt Stackhouse (Jr./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville) added 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. L.J. Huggler (Jr./St. Marys, PA; St. Marys) chipped in 12 points and six boards.

FDU-Florham was led by Jeff Hemschoot with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Brian McCauley added 19 markers and seven boards. Jamaal Ford kicked in 10 points.

The Warriors travel to Drew University on Wednesday, February 12, for their next contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. following the women’s half of the doubleheader.
