AND STACKHOUSE LEAD LYCOMING TO VICTORY ON HARDCOURT
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted Marymount
University, Saturday afternoon, in a non-conference contest. The
Warriors snapped a three-game losing skid by defeating the Saints
104-90. Lycoming improved to 5-4 on the season, while Marymount
dropped to 4-6 overall.
The Saints
recorded the first bucket of the game and held the advantage for
most of the first half. Their lead grew as large as 12 with six
minutes to play in the period. The Warriors, however, began
chipping away at the deficit eventually tying the game at 40-40
with 1:44 left on the clock. From there the home team went on an
8-2 run to end the half and carry a 48-42 advantage into the
locker room.
The Warriors
never trailed in the second half building their lead to 16 midway
through the half before cruising to a 14-point victory.
Lycoming was led
by huge games from both Tommy Wesner (Sr./Dillsburg, PA;
Northern) and Matt Stackhouse (Jr./Hughesville, PA;
Hughesville). Wesner led the team with 39 points on the
strength of seven three-pointers, while also grabbing nine
rebounds. Stackhouse tallied a career-high 33 points and grabbed a
team-high 13 rebounds. L.J. Huggler (Jr./St. Marys, PA; St.
Marys) added 13 points and Jonathan Pribble (Fr./Woolrich,
PA; Central Mountain) just missed a triple-double with 10
rebounds, 10 assists, and nine points.
The
Warriors play again on Tuesday, January 7, when they host
Shenandoah University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
