WESNER AND STACKHOUSE LEAD LYCOMING TO VICTORY ON HARDCOURT

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted Marymount University, Saturday afternoon, in a non-conference contest. The Warriors snapped a three-game losing skid by defeating the Saints 104-90. Lycoming improved to 5-4 on the season, while Marymount dropped to 4-6 overall.

The Saints recorded the first bucket of the game and held the advantage for most of the first half. Their lead grew as large as 12 with six minutes to play in the period. The Warriors, however, began chipping away at the deficit eventually tying the game at 40-40 with 1:44 left on the clock. From there the home team went on an 8-2 run to end the half and carry a 48-42 advantage into the locker room.

The Warriors never trailed in the second half building their lead to 16 midway through the half before cruising to a 14-point victory.

Lycoming was led by huge games from both Tommy Wesner (Sr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern) and Matt Stackhouse (Jr./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville). Wesner led the team with 39 points on the strength of seven three-pointers, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Stackhouse tallied a career-high 33 points and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds. L.J. Huggler (Jr./St. Marys, PA; St. Marys) added 13 points and Jonathan Pribble (Fr./Woolrich, PA; Central Mountain) just missed a triple-double with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and nine points.

The Warriors play again on Tuesday, January 7, when they host Shenandoah University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
