WESNER AND STACKHOUSE RECEIVE REGIONAL HONORS FOR MEN’S BASKETBALL

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Senior Tommy Wesner (Dillsburg, PA; Northern) and junior Matt Stackhouse (Hughesville, PA; Hughesville) of the Lycoming College men’s basketball team have been named to regional all-star teams. Both Wesner and Stackhouse were honored by d3hoops.com as All-Middle Atlantic Region second-team all-stars. Wesner was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ (NABC) All-District second-team.

Wesner led the MAC Freedom Conference in scoring this season, averaging 20.0 points per game. He also led the Warriors in three-point field goals with 95 and was second on the team with 91 assists. Wesner was a two-time first-team all-conference player and was named Player of the Year in 2002. Last season, he was also named a regional all-star by both the NABC and d3hoops.com. Despite spending just three seasons at Lycoming, Wesner finished his career as the program’s 6th highest all-time scorer with 1,428 points. He also holds the school records for career three-pointers with 268 and triples in a game with 11 (vs. Lincoln University on Nov. 11, 2002).

Stackhouse was a dominating inside presence for the Warriors in 2002-2003, averaging a double-double with 17.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He was named to the all-conference first team after leading the league in rebounding, while ranking fourth in scoring. Stackhouse also ranked among the conference leaders in field-goal percentage, blocked shots, and free-throw percentage.

As a team, Lycoming finished the 2002-2003 campaign with a record of 15-11 and a third-place finish in the Freedom Conference, despite returning only four players from last season’s championship team. The Warriors earned a bid to the Freedom Conference tournament for the fifth consecutive season – a feat matched only by the University of Scranton.
