WARRIOR MEN’S BASKETBALL WINS SEASON OPENER

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted their annual Tip-Off Tournament, Friday evening. The Warriors won their season opener, defeating Keystone College 72-58. The Giants fell to 2-2 with the loss.

Lycoming used a balanced attack with five different players scoring in double figures. Matt Stackhouse (Sr./Hughesville, Pa.; Hughesville) led the way with a game-high 17 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots in the game. Jonathan Pribble (So./Woolrich, Pa.; Central Mountain) added 15 points and five rebounds. Shaun Morris (Jr./Camp Hill, Pa.; Trinity) led the squad with seven assists while also scoring 14 points. L.J. Huggler (Sr./St. Marys, Pa.; St. Marys) chipped in 12 markers and seven boards, and Curtis Mays (So./Philadelphia, Pa.; University City) scored 10 points while dishing out five assists.

Lamont Jones (Sr./Akron, Ohio; Central Hower) was Keystone’s leading scorer with 15 points. Harry Brown (Fr./Bellfonte, Pa.; Pottsgrove) pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

The Giants scored the first six points of the game and did not surrender the lead until midway through the second half. With just more than 14 minutes to play, Keystone’s lead grew to a game-high 10-point margin. The Warriors, however, went on a 15-1 run over the next four minutes to take their first lead of the contest. They would never trail again as the offense found their rhythm and the defense smothered the Giants. Lycoming outscored Keystone 20-8 over the final 10 minutes to cruise to the 14-point victory.

The Warriors will play Point Park University in the championship game of the tournament, Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Keystone will play Arcadia University at 2 p.m.

Point Park defeated Arcadia, 64-49, in the Friday night’s second game. Reggie Gaddis (So./Madison, Wisc.) led the Pioneers to victory with 17 points. Magen McNeil (So./Philadelphia, Pa.; University City) was the Scarlet Knights’ top performer with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
