LYCOMING MEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO ELMIRA

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team took a break from conference action to host Elmira College, Monday evening. The Warriors came back from a 10-point halftime deficit, but could not hold on to a late lead as the Eagles stole a 73-69 victory. Lycoming drops to 9-6 with the loss. Elmira improves to 10-4.

The Eagles got out of the gate first, jumping out to a 12-4 advantage five minutes into the contest. The Warriors fought back to take their first lead of the game at 16-15 with 10:49 to play in the first half. Elmira, however, used an 18-7 spurt in the last five minutes to take a 43-33 lead into the locker room.

Lycoming began chipping away at the deficit in the second half and eventually regained the lead, 55-54, midway through the period. The Warriors extended their lead to five with 3:56 to play, but the Eagles refused to go away. A pair of three-pointers by Elmira tied the game at 69-69 with 1:54 to play. Lycoming was unable to find the bottom of the net in the final two minutes going 0-for-3 from the field as the Eagles recorded a jump shot and two free throws to steal the victory.

Matt Stackhouse (Jr./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville) led all scorers with 24 points to go with 14 rebounds. L.J. Huggler (Jr./St. Marys, PA; St. Marys) added 17 points and Jonathan Pribble (Fr./Woolrich, PA; Central Mountain) chipped in 12. Shaun Morris (So./Camp Hill, PA; Trinity) led the team with six assists, while scoring seven points.

The Warriors will look to rebound on Wednesday, January 22, when they travel to King’s College for a conference doubleheader. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. following the women’s game.
